Updated: This Week’s Hot New Games! Kairosoft’s Cafeteria Nipponica, Happy Squirrels, Pitfall, and More…
We know the Olympics are entertaining, but how much better would your television-viewing time be spent if you were PLAYING A GAME AT THE SAME TIME???
So it’s a weak argument… But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check out what’s new this week in the App Store. From Kairosoft’s latest restaurant sim to a Ghostbusters augmented reality game, there are several viable alternatives to watching the world compete in obscure sports. So take a look below for more details.
Cafeteria Nipponica
|
Cafeteria Nipponica Universal
(4.5 stars with 216 Ratings)
Forget all the other restaurant management sims you had played in the past. This is a restaurant sim done in the traditional Kairosoft style. In Cafeteria Nipponica, research recipes, upgrade your dishes with special ingredients, train your staff, and design your cafeteria anyway you like. Of course, you’ve got to please your customers to make the business a success. Do you have what it takes to run Cafeteria Nipponica?
Happy Squirrels
|
Happy Squirrels Universal
(4.5 stars with 2510 Ratings)
It’s Chillingo’s Tiny Tower with… squirrels and mini games. If you love those lovable, cute squirrels and tower building gameplay, Happy Squirrels might be a game worth checking out. It’s free!
Kingdoms & Lords
|
Kingdoms & Lords – Prepare for Strategy and Battle! Universal
(4 stars with 7747 Ratings)
You’ve played castle building games before, and you’ve definitely experienced Gameloft, but they managed to bring something new to this medieval adventure by working in army-building and battle components. So if you’ve “ever dreamt of being a king,” as the trailer asks, this is the game “to make it true.” Also, it’s free.
Michael Jackson The Experience
|
Michael Jackson The Experience iPhone OS
(4.5 stars with 371 Ratings)
If it sounds familiar it probably is. This rhythm game has been available on iPad for several months (like, since December!), and now it’s come to iPhone for those who want to get down with Michael but don’t have a big iPad screen to make it happen. It’ll be $2.99 to start dancing.
Trigger Fist
|
Trigger Fist Universal
(4.5 stars with 25966 Ratings)
We might not have heard of the developer (Lake Effect Applications), but they seem to have their heads in the right place by touting Trigger First’s focus on fluid controls and great gameplay. If you’re interested in learning more about the “subtle addition” to the controls that allegedly makes Trigger Fist a step above other shooters, that’ll be a $4.99 risk you’ll have to take.
Super Mole Escape
|
Super Mole Escape Universal
(4.5 stars with 2396 Ratings)
Moles love to dig, and that’s what you’ll be doing if you pick up this new one from Adult Swim Games and grumpyface studios. Scoring appears to depend on what you pick up while you dig, and the trailer hints at a multiplayer mode.
Pitfall
|
PITFALL!™ Universal
(4.5 stars with 65989 Ratings)
Inspired by the 1982 classic and looking something like Temple Run, this 3D runner from Activision Publishing features more side-scrolling action. You’ll play as an explorer who’s got to get out of the jungle fast following some sort of volcano mishap.
Ghostbusters: Paranormal Blast
|
Ghostbusters™ Paranormal Blast Universal
(4.5 stars with 808 Ratings)
One of few iOS game trailers featuring live action video… Paranormal Blast will apparently have some augmented reality elements, and it costs just 99 cents. If you’re a long time fan of Ghostbusters, then it should be interesting to see what they’ve done with this one.
