New 12W Power Adapter Charges iPads Faster, Apple’s Lightning to HDMI/VGA Adapters selling for $49

There were definitely some show stealers in Apple’s presentation Tuesday. Most casual observers will probably remember that super thin new iMac, as well as the sexy new iPad Mini… But let’s not forget the little guys. Along with the iPad Mini and 4^th-gen iPad (curse that thing), Apple is shipping a new 12W power adapter that should mean faster charge times for all iPads.

This new adapter beats out the old one by 2W, and the best news is Apple will sell it to those of us holding onto our “older” devices like the iPad 3 for $19. Nobody has commented on just how drastically the 12W adapter will improve charge times, but everyone knows that the 42.5W battery takes ages with the 10W version, so here’s hoping for a big step forward. Here’s Apple’s less-than-helpful comment:

“We don’t have an exact percentage of how much faster it would charge but you should see an increase in speed.”

Talk about a sales pitch. They must be worn out from Tuesday… Along with the new power adapter, Apple is also selling new HDMI and VGA adapters that should solve video related Lightning connector woes you’ve been experiencing. Of course, this $49 unit is for use with compatible devices like the iPhone 5, iPod Touch, iPad Mini, and 4^th-gen iPad.
