Max Payne Hits the App Store! Along with other Hot New Releases

This week is just like any other—there are a flock of new iOS games available for your perusal in the App Store. But we’re pretty sure one is going to get the most attention, and that’s Max Payne. The hit console game should be a killer on iPhone and iPad, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t also check out hot new games such as Burnout Crash!, Crow, Epic Astro Story, and Sky Landers Cloud Patrol… Trailers and more below.

Max Payne Mobile

Max Payne Mobile Universal (Optimized for Both the iPad and iPhone)

(4.5 stars with 1794 Ratings)

$2.99

We can’t wait to see how all the slow-motion goodness of the Max Payne franchise transitions onto iOS devices. Rockstar has a pretty solid history in the App Store, so there’s reason to hope that this noir-style shooter will be worth the four-dollar asking price… And hey, if things work out, maybe we can expect to see the rest of the trilogy show up in the App Store in the days to come.

Crow

Crow Universal (Optimized for Both the iPad and iPhone)

(4 stars with 671 Ratings)

$3.99

Hard to know what to expect here. We can’t tell you much about developer Sunside, nor are we clear on what it’s like to engage in combat as a bird… However, screenshots of Crow promise a visually-stimulating atmosphere, and early testimonials indicate that this is one to watch. Crow costs $4.99 and is being served up as a universal app.

Epic Astro Story

Epic Astro Story iPhone OS

(4.5 stars with 233 Ratings)

$3.99

Kairosoft has gone off the deep end with this one. While most of their sims stay rooted in the real world, Epic Astro Story promises a more alien experience. Those up for the challenge will have to colonize a brand new planet, and that means completing tasks like building homes and developing transportation systems… The game costs $3.99, and the hype surrounding it indicates that it’s one of Kairosoft’s better efforts.

Skylanders Cloud Patrol

Skylanders Cloud Patrol Universal (Optimized for Both the iPad and iPhone)

(4.5 stars with 18465 Ratings)

$1.99

You’ve probably heard of Skylanders (maybe from your kids), and now you can get them on your iOS device for just 99 cents. The Activision game promises “arcade shooting gallery-style gameplay,” but it’s hard to tell from the screenshots whether or not this title will offer any real challenge for adults.

Burnout Crash!

Burnout™ CRASH! Universal (Optimized for Both the iPad and iPhone)

(4 stars with 1185 Ratings)

$4.99

Max Payne isn’t the only console game having its first run in the App Store this week. Popular racing franchise Burnout is also making a grand entry with Crash! The racing game is sure to have all the chaos and crashing of previous versions, but this time using the touch-controls of an iPhone or iPad. At $4.99, it’s looking like this one is worth taking for a spin.
