It’s Finally here. iPad Mini Announced, will sell for $329 and Ships on November 2nd
We know you’re sick of hearing about it, and Apple was probably sick of trying to keep it a secret (and failing), so it’s good news for everyone that the iPad Mini is finally out in the open. The little deviation from Apple’s standard tablet measures at 7.9 inches and will sell for a starting price of $329.
In other words—everything was confirmed. There’s been a surprising trend of Apple’s “secrets” getting spoiled ahead of time, and the iPad Mini announcement really didn’t break the pattern… Regardless, Tim Cook and Phil Schiller still got to take to the stage and spill all the precious details. Apple’s competitor to devices like the Google Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire weighs just 0.68 pounds, is a mere 7.2mm thin (the new iPod Touch is 6.1mm) and comes with a dual-core A5 processor (same as iPad 2). Other noteworthy features include a FaceTime HD camera, 5 MP photos, 1080p HD video recording, and a Lightning connection port.
The baseline iPad Mini is 16GB, Wi-Fi only and sells for $329. On the other end of the spectrum, you can get a fully pimped iPad Mini with 4G LTE connectivity and 64GB of space for $659. Pre-order starts this Friday on 10/26, and the iPad Mini ships on November 2.
So, how does Apple want us to think about this iPad Mini—which, if you remember, is of the size of tablet Steve Jobs said would be dead on arrival… Well, one of their taglines is, “Every inch an iPad,” so clearly, Tim Cook is hoping we’ll think of this as more of a tablet than an oversized iPhone or iPod Touch… Are you sold on that promise, or is Apple getting off track and chasing the competition with this one?
