iPad is the Best-Selling Device Ever
An analyst working for Bernstein Research has published a statistic to end all statistics. At least, that’s probably how Steve Jobs will see it . . . According to the Bernstein study, the 8.5 million units moved by Apple in the few short months of the iPad being available make it the fastest selling device of all time. I’d bet my life Jobs will bring this up at the next keynote address. And it’s hard to argue that the statement holds weight.
On top of this, the report was published before consumers could buy the device at Walmart and Target locations. Not that the iPad needed a boost in sales, but if anything’s going to do it, then this is it. The increase in availability and the upcoming holiday season will likely pad the stats for Apple.
Another recent report from NDP indicates that these buyers are pretty happy. Thirteen percent wouldn’t have bought a personal computer had they been given the option as an alternative to the iPad . . . We know that tablets from other manufacturers are on the way, but this is further proof that they face a big challenge if they plan on denting the iPad’s sales. Christmas should prove to be a great testing ground.
