iOS 6 Supports the Longer 640 x1136 Display. More Evidence for a Taller iPhone
As this year’s round of next-gen iPhone rumors almost certainly near their climactic point, one feature of the alleged device that has only been gathering stronger evidence over time is the larger screen… To be more specific, those in the media have come to believe that the iPhone 5 (or 6, or whatever you want to call it) will sport a TALLER screen—probably 4 inches. And to that end, new evidence has come forth from an iOS simulator app showing that the coming version of the operating system is capable of scaling five lines of applications on one screen.
So, it’s not a blatant confirmation of a 4-inch screen, but it sure seems close… After all, would Apple really have any interest in just scaling more apps onto our current iPhone screen size? Doubt it. Instead, the iOS simulator is probably showing the 640×1136 resolution because it’s exactly what will coincide with a taller screen (coming next month?). It has even been reported that the fifth row of apps cannot be displayed outside of that resolution, making it seem more likely that the feature is tailor made for a next-gen device…
As rumors go, I’m usually pretty skeptical and tend to tune things out, but it’s getting to the point where I’d pretty much bet on a 4-inch iPhone sometime next month… How about you?
