Infinity Blade, Eternal Legacy, Dungeon Hunter 2, Puzzle Quest 2, Monopoly for iPad. A Stocking Full of Christmas Games Arrives in the App Store

Developers worldwide have deemed Thursday the best day to release new games, and this particular Thursday, December 9th, is a big one. We’re running out of Thursdays before Christmas, and since this is the last one before the iTunes team puts the App Store on hold for the holiday season, everyone is throwing the best new game they have at us right now. Here’s a look at some of the most exciting and are available now!

Infinity Blade

There’s no shortage of anticipation for this sword-swinging RPG mashup from developer Chair. Finally, we’ll get to find out if all the hype (see our Infinity Blade Review), including the Epic Citadel “demo,” was worth the anticipation it drummed up. You can get this, the first iOS game to run on the Unreal Engine, for $5.99 tonight. Infinity Blade - Chair Entertainment Group, LLC

Puzzle Quest 2

Capitalizing on the success of the original, this puzzler brings us RPG elements as well as a matching challenge. There is a free version if you want to test things out before jumping in, but the full version of the sequel from TransGaming will cost a hefty $9.99.Puzzle Quest 2 - Namco Networks America Inc.

Dungeon Hunter 2

The first Dungeon Hunter was really something, giving us vast, lush worlds with lots of dialogue, enemies, weapons, and very deep RPG elements. The sequel should bring us more of all that great stuff, with the welcome addition of an online coop multiplayer mode. The price is $6.99, but it has the potential to be well worth it.Dungeon Hunter 2 - Gameloft

Dead Rising

You know and love this as a console game, but now we’re getting the chance to play a mobile version on our iPhones. It’s not like the App Store is short on zombie-themed games (ha!), but this one from Capcom ($4.99) looks to take itself a little more seriously than most, in a good way.DEAD RISING MOBILE - CAPCOM

Eternal Legacy

By some turn of events, this title from Gameloft has released early and is available for $6.99 as we speak. It’s the developer’s take on games like Final Fantasy, and though it’s too early to judge from player feedback, Gameloft’s reputation leads us to believe this could be impressive. Monopoly for iPad

You would have thought we would have this sooner, but just in time for family gatherings over the holidays, you can get the classic board game on your iPad for some real estate gaming minus the messy paper money. It would be hard to mess this up, but for $9.99, Monopoly for iPad will hopefully bring some more to the table than what we’re used to.MONOPOLY for iPad - Electronic Arts
