Facebook Messenger’s Voice, Video features come to Facebook app in Latest Update
If you were quick to download last week’s update to Facebook Messenger, then the new features of the social network company’s main mobile app will be of no surprise. After a brief period of availability only in Facebook Messenger, the options to send voice messages or record video have been brought over to Facebook’s main app via the latest update.
We’re assuming this means both video recording and voice messaging must have seen some early success on the Messenger platform (which is typically used by communication-heavy users, and thus perfect for testing this sort of thing). One of the Messenger features still left out at this point are the free phone calls, an option rolled out with little fanfare given its possible implications…
Along with the new voice/video features, Facebook also wants to access your device’s camera to allow for quick posting and sending from right inside the app… Lastly, the developers gave the “Nearby” feature some attention, as it now sports a new look and contains more information that will hopefully be useful to those seeking out nearby establishments.
While none of this is “new” after the Messenger update, bringing the communication features over to the main app does make for a more well-rounded social package. Now it’s up to you whether or not they’ll get any usage.
