Did Apple make a last minute design change for the iPad Mini? Accessory Maker puts on the Brakes

This is what some people get for trusting in those iPad Mini mockups that started to surface like seven years ago… As the expected iPad Mini announcement draws near, word is a “large OEM mobile accessory maker” just put the brakes on production of cases and accessories meant to coincide with the launch of the iPad Mini. Their reason? Apple’s true design for the tablet didn’t match with the one on which the accessory maker based its own designs.

Reports on Tuesday point to a change in the “round shape” of the alleged new iPad Mini. Japanese blog Macotakara learned that the “shape of arc on the side of the iPad mini has changed.” This would mean that cases made with prior leaked images in mind would not work anymore.  Interestingly, this “design change” coincides nicely with the statement from Topeka analyst Brian White that “the iPad Mini could outshine the new iPad.”

Well, I guess that’s the risk you take… The life of an Apple device accessory maker has to be a hard one. Who do you trust? Not the people this accessory maker did, apparently. Any cases, stands, or other paraphernalia meant for use with the iPad Mini have clearly been produced on hope alone, and with the “round shape” of the tablet now being called into question, some may wish they had waited for some more concrete news from Apple itself. It may be that Apple’s design bears no similarities to devices like the Amazon Kindle Fire or Google Nexus 7, in which case, prepare to be surprised in a good way.

In the meantime, we’ll throw up the above video solely for entertainment purposes… Because as this accessory maker just learned, putting all your stock on one “prediction” can be pretty futile.
