Cycloramic Makes Your iPhone 5 Turn Circles by Itself, Records 360-Degree Video

Sometimes all it takes is a killer concept for a developer to garner free publicity for their newest iPhone app. The most recent example of this phenomenon would be Cycloramic Cycloramic - Egos Ventures, an app from Egos Ventures that accomplishes the impressive feat of making your iPhone record 360-degree video HANDS-FREE. Sound impossible? Check out the video to see how it works.

See, it’s not sorcery. Cycloramic engages the iPhone’s vibrator in order to make it turn a circle on flat surfaces like glass, granite, or marble. Obviously, the surfaces don’t need to be made of any certain material; they just have to be flat enough to keep your device from tipping as the vibration causes it to turn… I guess you’re accepting a bit of risk by leaving your iPhone balanced upright, but for rudimentary video needs, it sure beats buying some sort of clunky accessory that you’ll hardly ever use. The Cycloramic app costs 99 cents, a pretty easy price to swallow even if you only ever use it to show off your iPhone at a party or bar.

Keep in mind that Cycloramic should only be used on the iPhone 5. Older devices are supposedly compatible, but their heavier weights don’t allow for an easy spin and thus aren’t guaranteed to work.

So will Cycloramic get your dollar? To me, it compares to something like Breathaleyes—catchy idea, limited everyday use… And yeah, I bought Breathaleyes, and will probably buy Cycloramic, too.
