Etchings is a photo editing app that gives you the ability to turn your photos into a realistic looking work of hand drawn art and illustration. This app has twelve different styles of effects you can apply to your photo, giving you plenty of choices in finding just the right look. It’s simple to do, and applying effects is similar to how Instagram works. When you’re done, share your new photo with everyone on Facebook, Twitter, and more right from within the app.

Nozoku plays like this: your objective is to combine tiles to subtract smaller numbers from the larger ones. You’ll have to continue combining until all numbered tiles are gone. When you’ve solved the puzzles down to a single tile, you’ll earn stars. Once you’ve gotten the hang of that, puzzles get more and more challenging with added obstacles. It’s an excellent way to stretch and challenge your brain while enjoying a few moments to yourself. The app comes packaged in a neat, crisp design with an intuitive interface that allows you to jump right into the game with little learning curve.

NeoMech

NeoMech Universal (Optimized for both the iPad and iPhone) (4 stars with 162 Ratings)

In NeoMech, you control a giant humanoid warrior robot to take on an army that is out to annihilate you. You’ll work your way through this retro looking platformer as you utilize your powerful artillery to fight and set fire to the forces against you. Find yourself collecting power ups for some intense boosters as you take on troops, helicopters, tanks, and a lot more. This game has those lovable retro graphics most of us have come to love. With intense gameplay, multiple scenarios, and a whole lot more, NeoMech is worth your time.

Editor’s Pick: Smile Alarm ~ 10 Games to Wake You Up!

Smile Alarm ~ 10 Games to Wake You Up! iPhone OS (4.5 stars with 426 Ratings)

Smile Alarm forces you to get up, whether you like it or not, by giving you a game or puzzle to play before it even turns off. The alarm will allow you to set a song from your iPod app as the actual wake up notification, but until you complete one of several games to choose from, it’s going to keep playing. Some of the games include having to calculate a math problem, counting a number of bricks, ordering objects from memory, remembering a specific pattern, and so much more. It’s so easy for me to just turn my alarm off as it is, so this little app could is quite worth it for me.
