Apple: Top Reasons why Consumers picked Android over iPhone
This whole Apple vs. Samsung thing has proven interesting on many levels. Whether or not Apple ends up reaping huge damages from Samsung for their copycat behavior, we’ve picked up lots of interesting tidbits from the court proceedings, so it was worth it, right? The latest court document to turn heads is one that lists the top reasons why consumers ever choose Android over iPhone. At the top? A desire to stay with current provider.
Nearly half of the respondents (43%) provided this reasoning for their choice to go Android. This survey was conducted by Apple back in 2010, when the iPhone was exclusive to AT&T and we could only dream of Verizon ever landing the coveted smartphone. The second-highest reason for going Android was trust in the Google brand (36%), followed by attraction to the larger screens (30%).
So, even though we’re constantly seeing hateful back-and-forth that goes on between iOS/Android fans, simple brand preference or disdain for Apple doesn’t show up anywhere on the list (unless you twist and distort “trust” for Google’s brand).
It appears that the ultimate reasoning for going Android over iPhone is a lot more logistical in nature. And with more providers now offering the iPhone, the leading reason on the list is no longer relevant. Looking further down the list at the “larger screen” group, we’re all waiting to see if that segment of Android users will be appeased by what Apple has to announce come September.
