Angry Birds Gets Free Version, Includes New Content
The target market for Angry Birds Free has to be quite small, considering that it’s one of the most well-known video games on any platform right now, and doesn’t really require a new promotional tool. But still, Rovio has seen fit to crank out yet another incarnation of the birds and the pigs. This time, it’s a free offering, which comes with brand new levels never before seen.
However, it also comes with advertisements. If you can put up with these ads, you’ll be treated to 12 new levels divides into four episodes . . . And in case you’re wondering how Angry Birds Free differs from the lite version that already exists at no cost, the difference is in the content. You won’t find these levels in the paid versions of the game, making it a pretty safe bet if you want a risk-free introduction to the game, or are already thoroughly addicted and looking for more levels on which to score three stars.
Oh, and we might as well take this as another opportunity to mention how the Angry Birds continue their march to take over the world. The CEO of Rovio, Peter Vesterbacka, is on record saying that they want Angry Birds to become “bigger than Tetris.” There is a movie in the works, as well as a TV show, and back in Halloween we got a great chance to see how many kids have experience with the game, as evidenced by their bird costumes and toys . . . What more can be said? The birds aren’t done yet.
