iPhone 4 Buyers Line Up Again. This Time at AT&T Locations

Once wasn’t enough, apparently. Campsites and makeshift huts sprouted up on city sidewalks for the second time in one week. The reason for the craziness is the same, but this time iPhone 4 was made available at AT&T locations to walk-in customers who didn’t hold a reservation.

A few weeks ago, following the incredible demand it encountered once pre-orders were placed, AT&T was forced to announce that it had no stock available for walk-in customers on June 24^th, the launch day for iPhone 4. Instead, those who didn’t get a reservation had to wait until today to line up and take their best shot at getting in and out of a crowded AT&T location clutching a fresh phone. The photographs of enormous lines that graced the covers of many newspapers last week all depicted Apple Stores and Best Buy locations, as those were the only options for walk-in customers on launch day.

By and large, those commenting on their experience trying to get an iPhone today, June 29^th, are sounding pretty positive. Sounds as if many AT&T locations were stocked well enough to supply most of the eager individuals waiting in line. Of course, that doesn’t mean one can waltz in anytime this afternoon and expect an iPhone 4 to be ready and waiting. The demand is still intense enough to clear out most stores in the early morning hours.

Will this be a recurring story as Apple Stores, Best Buy, and AT&T replenish their stock in future weeks? We’ll have to wait and see, but at this point it appears that many potential customers are still waiting, tents and lawn chairs at the ready.
