iOS 4.0 is Ready to Ramp-up Android Competition

As the moans and groans from Google die down, what is left is an entirely new OS that will compete with Android 2.0.

For many, Apple, has been playing catch-up. This updated OS may not surpass Android in many people’s eyes but there is no doubt that it gets really, really close.

Obviously, the big news was the addition of multi-tasking but there are lesser features as well that really make this shine. Not to mention that when combined with the 4th generation iPhone should prove to make a great new option.

Among the many new improvements is the folder function that will allow for the easy management of up to 2160 applications with familiar drag and drop organization.

Mail has been revamped and will feature an integrated mailbox in addition to separate accounts allowing one button access to all your accounts. This new Mail will also allow you to open attachments with 3rd party applications. Apple has added a spell checker to its Mail application as well as other apps.

Beyond the additional camera added to the front of the 4G iPhone, iOS4.0 will allow users of older model phones to tap and focus video, as well as provide 5X zoom for the camera on the 3G and 3GS. Photos, has added a “Faces and Place” sorting option that will allow you to keep your photos sorted by who is in them and where they were taken.

iPhone users will have many reasons to celebrate beyond the introduction of limited multitasking when iOS4.0 is available for download in a couple of weeks.
