iMovie Coming Soon for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch

Randy Ubilos, the designer behind Apple’s Final Cut Pro and Adobe’s Premier said, “iMovie is one of the most exciting things I’ve ever worked on.”

Take note Cisco, the ill-fated purchasers of Flip HD cameras, there is a new sheriff in town.

At $4.99 this is nothing less than an impressive editing suite. I have never had a need to edit, and add effects to a video on the fly and would prefer to use my laptop, but this just sounds cool and there is no question that people will use this app to share their videos straight to YouTube, MobileMe, and by Email.

Three resolutions will be available: Medium (640 X 36) Large (960 X 540) and HD (1280 X 720).

The app itself will allow the use of existing of live video and offer and impressive range of effects. Additionally, users will be able to work on multiple videos at the same time.

This really promises to be a full fledged editing application that allows transitions, background themes, the incorporation of still images, titles, geo-location maps, and music.

For aspiring directors this app is the dog’s bollocks. The new flash added to the camera on the iPhone will have the addittional functionality as a spotlight source for video recording. And with storage of up to 32 gigs this may just become a new standard in mini-movie production.
