iMovie for Iphone Arrives: Only for 4G
In anticipation of the official iPhone 4G release Apple has released their $4.99 iMovie app to the App Store. (App Store Link)
This is the first “full” editing suite for a mobile phone and will allow users to not only edit full movies but post them directly from the 4G iPhone.
Background music, titles, and various transitions are among its many features.
In addition to the app itself the Apple site has posted a FAQ as well as instructions for posting videos.
There is a touch of a contradiction on the site as the instructions detail how to upload HD video but points out that posts to YouTube and videos sent by email will be scaled to 568X320. A touch disconcerting.
YouTube has already seen a few lucky early iPhone 4G recipients beginning to post with this 4G specific editing suite. No doubt tomorrow will see this trickle turn into a full-fledged flood as hundreds of thousands of customers will receive their phones within 24 hours.
While it appears for now that these resolution upload issues are here to stay, the iMovie app at $4.99 is a ridiculously reasonable application to shore up the video capabilities of Apple’s newest wonder gadget. Time will tell but as the App sits at number three on the app store list it looks like demand is equal to the new phone itself.
