How To: Get Canadian Only Apps Without a Credit Card

There are times we just have to get that app that is not available in our own country.  Take the newest God Finger from Ngmoco for example, it is only available in Canada.  It is a great game and stands at number 1 in Canadian App Store’s Top Free Game List.  We don’t know when it will be available in the US, UK, or Australian App Store.  But why wait?  You can get them now by simply opening an iTunes account from that particular country, and you don’t even need a credit card.

The trick is to download an app to that country without being signed on to the App Store.  Because if you use an existing US account, iTunes will ask you to enter a credit card specific to that country.  If you aren’t signed on to any account, you’ll get a choice to choose “none” from credit card verification screen. Remember, you must click on “download” on a free app first before registering, otherwise you’ll have to enter a credit card specific to that country.

Here is a step by step procedure to opening an international App Store account to any country.

1.  Make sure you are signed out of your account on iTunes.

2.  Go to the bottom of iTunes and choose “change country” from the “Manage” tab.

3.  Choose the Canadian flag (or the country of your choice).

4.  Download an international app of your choice in the App Store.

5.  Click Sign In and Choose “Create a New Account”

6.  Agree to terms and conditions.

7.  Enter Email Address, password and other security questions .

8.  Select “none” from payment method.

9.  For Billing Address, you must choose a correct postal code that matches with the province of that country.  Go on Google to search for an address with the appropriate postal code.

10.  After email verification, you are done.  Start downloading from App Store of that country.

If you need to download paid apps from that country, consider an iTunes gift card. Happy international app shopping!
