Get Ready for “The Ultimate 4-Screen Experience” with Splashtop and MStar
You’ve probably heard of Splashtop before (Read Review). Splashtop Remote Desktop for iPad is ranked number 1 on our must-have app list for the iPad. The computer solutions company has been offering all kinds of useful services for some time now, but its newly-announced partnership with MStar has got people talking. Now it appears that we’ll be able to use Splashtop services to create a bidirectional media system that even works with your television set!
The screenshot above kind of says it all… Previously, folks used Splashtop
to do things like get a remote desktops established on devices such as the iPhone or iPad, but not until now have we been able to add our TVs to the list of functional platforms. Thanks to the MStar partnership, Splashtop is telling potential users to get ready for “the ultimate 4-screen experience.” To further quote the company line, users will be able to “seamlessly [share] media, games, and applications across all screens, at home or over the Internet.” Feel free to go crazy and get your laptop, tablet, phone, and television all in on the action.
The “bidirectional” component means we’ll be able to use mobile devices for keyboard inputs or joysticks—depending on the situation, of course. The number of pairings and potential uses is pretty endless, but it doesn’t take a big imagination to recognize that this kind of cloud integration of all our primary platforms could become a big part of technology’s future.
… For the time being, Splashtop and MStar have gotten there first. Stay tuned for details on pricing and availability.
