Need more Facebook? It could be Integrated into the iOS in the next Update
If you’re a Facebook loyalist, then the deep Twitter integration that came to the iPhone in iOS 4 may have been a bit of a letdown. Luckily, Apple might be making up for it in a coming update to the platform. As evidenced in the latest beta for iOS 5.1, it appears that Facebook and Apple might have come to terms and could be bringing a new user experience sometime soon.
It all happened awhile back, but those who pay close attention will remember that some sort of dispute about terms prevented Facebook from being baked into iOS 4, and instead all we got was Twitter. That integration did a lot for the social network, upping its users by more than 25%. Perhaps that example brought Facebook back to the table. If we’re in luck and the code found in the latest beta is accurate, it may not be long before we have quick ways to post web links and photos straight to Facebook from our iPhones.
Along with the Facebook tease, the third beta for iOS 5.1 is also dropping hints about upcoming iPads. Sources say that code reading “J1AP” and “J2AP” could be in reference to a few new tablets. Whether the two codes point to the cellular/Wi-Fi versions of one iPad 3 or two completely different devices remains to be seen.
